At SEGGER, we proudly put our "quality first" promise into practice. This approach translates to all of our processes, and is guaranteed through our ISO 9001:2015 certification—which we renew continually.
All of SEGGER's certified management and development processes have been established and maintained within the company over years. All processes have been defined with the goal of maximizing output quality. Where development processes are concerned, this approach translates directly into product quality.
Closed-loop development
One of the cornerstones of SEGGER's design and engineering processes is closed-loop development. This means that any product produced by SEGGER is used by its own engineers. These engineers insist on the best tools available, and they do not accept anything less. The internal feedback provided from the engineering departments ensures that SEGGER tools continue to provide the best possible results in terms of product performance and user experiences.
- Embedded software such as Embedded Studio and Ozone is used to develop, debug, and support J-Link, Flasher, embOS, and all other software components in an embedded system.
- J-Link and Flasher firmware utilizes embOS, emSecure, emFile, emUSB-Device, emNet, and emSSL software among others.
Extensive testing routines
SEGGER's engineering department has invested a significant amount of time ensuring that products are thoroughly tested. An example from the USB department details automated testing with different USB setups.
Support quality
SEGGER's engineering team probably has the largest collection of evaluation boards at their disposal in the world. This collection consists of more than 3,000 evaluation boards compatible with a wide variety of microcontrollers.
Supporting hardware is key in embedded systems. With a huge number of test systems available, SEGGER's engineers can ensure that the products delivered simply work. To find the right evaluation board for the task at hand, engineers can tap into SEGGER's own evaluation-board management system.
High development standards
As part of embOS-Safe's certification process, SEGGER's development processes have undergone additional in-depth review. Certification for functional safety according to ISO 61508 SIL 3, IEC 62304 Class C, and ISO 26262 ASIL D confirms the quality of SEGGER's development processes and demonstrates that embOS-Safe is perfectly suited for its role as a fundamental safety-product component.
TÜV Süd Germany has certified the embOS-Safe real-time operating system according to IEC 61508 SIL 3, IEC 62304 Class C, and ISO 26262 ASIL D. IEC 61508 is the standard for functional safety and is referenced in multiple related standards in different areas. embOS-Safe certifications in accordance with other standards can easily be carried out.
All SEGGER software products adhere to the same high development standards as embOS.
