Providing proof of destruction for trade-in units
To participate in the SEGGER Trade-In Program* and upgrade your unit to a current J-Link, J-Trace or Flasher model, you must provide SEGGER with proof of destruction of your device. The following guidelines will show you how to properly destroy your unit.
How to provide proof of destruction for trade-in units
If you have requested to trade in your J-Link, J-Trace, or Flasher model, there's no need to send the unit back to SEGGER. To avoid unnecessary shipping, we ask that you properly destroy your current model instead. The following steps will show you how.
Proof of destruction for J-Link and J-Trace units
- Remove the cover of your J-Link or J-Trace unit.
- Drill a hole through the MCU as shown in the pictures below. Be careful not to damage the serial number.
- Scratch in the date of destruction as shown in the picture below. If you need to destroy more than one unit, mark the units as 1/2 and 2/2 (for two units).
- Take pictures of both sides of the unit as shown in step 2, and send them to sales@segger.com.
Proof of destruction for Flasher units
- Remove the cover of your Flasher unit.
- Drill a hole through the circuit board as shown in the pictures below.
